System Requirements

Turbomaps is browser based software, which means it runs on all desktop operating systems (Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, or Linux).

We use WebGL to render our maps. Most modern browsers support this technology, but you will need to ensure that:

  • Graphics acceleration is enabled in your browser.
  • Your hardware supports WebGL2 or WebGPU.

Mobile Requirements

The Turbomaps editor is not fully supported in mobile browsers. On small devices such as phones, you will not be able to use the editor, but you can view maps you create & share.

There is limited support for larger mobile devices such as iPad and tablets. Turbomaps requires technologies that are not fully supported in mobile browsers, so some features may be missing on these devices.

Performance Tips

If you are having performance problems with Turbomaps, we recommend:

  • Try updating your browser to the latest version. We recommend enabling automatic updates to stay up to date.
  • Making your browser window smaller. This will result in less pixels being rendered, especially on high-DPI displays.
  • Using Chrome or Chromium based browsers (Edge, Arc etc). We have found that Turbomaps performs best in these browsers.
  • Changing your Windows power mode to High Performance, or ensuring your Mac is not in Low Power Mode.
  • If you have both a dedicated graphics card and integrated graphics, you can choose to use the dedicated GPU over the integrated GPU at the expense of battery consumption. You will need to use the Nvidia, AMD, or Mac control panel to configure your browser to use dedicated graphics.
