Analysis Tools

Ruler

Layers can be measured using the ruler tool. Select one or more layers, and select the Ruler Icon that appears on the map to display the ruler tool.

  • Number of points: This is a count of the number of points within each individual layer. This is visible for all layer types.
  • Length: The combined total line length and perimeters, ignoring elevation. This is visible for line & polygon layers.
  • Area: The total internal area for any filled shapes. This is visible for polygon layers only.
  • Bounding Box: Coordinates for the smallest possible rectangle that encapsulates the selected layers. This is visible for all layer types.

An appropriate unit is used based on the size of the length/area. To switch between Metric & US Customary units, click the button next to the measurements or click the scale on the map.

Layer Text

Line & Polygon layers can display measurements as text on the map, without having to update it manually. To show the length or area, from the design sidebar, add text and change the label option. Area is only available for polygon layers—select Fill object to convert from line to polygon if needed.

Individual Coordinates

Right click anywhere on the map in both view and edit mode to copy the coordinates to your clipboard or open the coordinates in another service. Currently, the following services are supported:

  • Apple Maps
