Importing Data

Turbomaps currently supports importing small amounts of data.

Importing Individual Coordinates

You can import individual coordinates by pasting them into the editor.

  • A new point layer will be created if an individual point is not selected.
  • The coordinates of an individual point within a layer will be replaced if it is selected.

Supported Formats

Most formats for coordinates are supported.

  • Latitude & Longitude: 32.3065, -122.6145
  • Decimal degrees: 32.3065 N 122.6145 W
  • Degrees, decimal minutes: 32° 18.387' N 122° 36.876' W
  • Degrees, minutes, seconds: 32° 18' 23.4" N 122° 36' 52.2" W
  • GeoJSON Position: [-122.6145, 32.3065]

Importing GeoJSON

GeoJSON data can be imported in a number of different ways:

  • Pasting the GeoJSON into the editor
  • Drag and dropping a GeoJSON file into the editor
  • Selecting import from files to create a new file
  • Directly edited in the data editor

Your GeoJSON data is validated before the editor updates. A layer will not be created or updated if the GeoJSON data is invalid.

Current Limitations

  • There is a limit of 75 features in a FeatureCollection
  • Each layer can be up to 256KB
  • GeometryCollections will be converted to a FeatureCollection. Nested GeometryCollections are not supported.

In the future, all of these limits will be increased.
